Organizational Values

Integrity - Let our words and actions be consistent and true in “doing the right thing."

Diversity - Healthy communities value diversity of race, culture, gender, income level, and creed. The goal is to connect pockets of positive capital development and promote both racial and income diversity within safe and beautiful neighborhoods.

Collaboration - Combining the efforts of positive landlords, business owners, and citizens can stretch and leverage limited resources. The goal is to multiply our efforts by bringing together community efforts with city and government officials, community policing, churches, businesses, and other civic and community organizations. The picture of community development becomes complete when all stakeholders come together to take a “collective responsibility” to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods.

Action - While planning leads to success, the needs of the community demand constant front-line action to keep the focus on the streets. Our role will be to mobilize and organize residents to connect with police, housing inspectors, social service supports, and schools.

Stewardship - We are not here to give free handouts. Our investment of new resources and services in the area will ask for commensurate involvement or investment from other stakeholders. Our aim is to create positive opportunities like the Facade and Beautification Program for neighborhood groups to organize around and invest in.

Resident Involvement - Establishing resident ownership and involvement in making their neighborhood a better place is important in creating sustainable change. All the best-laid plans will not out-last the short-term when projects are imposed externally. When residents are involved and lead revitalization efforts, gleaning hope and pride from their successes, changes brought about by revitalization efforts will endure.
